Excavator cutting a house pad on a wooded northern Michigan lot

Excavation

Pads, trenches, grade, and pits — our machines, our crew.

Site work for new houses, septic replacements, drainage, and driveways from Traverse City through the peninsula counties. We do not rent a stranger with a hoe for the afternoon.

The work

House pads & new-build sites

House pads & new-build sites

Strip, cut, and fill to the elevation the house actually needs — not a guess from a pickup window. We set the pad, the garage, and the drive so water leaves the slab instead of sitting against it.

Utility and drain trenches

Utility and drain trenches

Water, electric, gas, tile, and septic lines cut clean and backfilled the right way. We know where the old clay tile and unmarked laterals hide on lake lots.

Grade, driveways, and access

Grade, driveways, and access

Rough grade, finish grade, gravel base, and a drive that does not turn into a creek in April. Compact-track work on tight cedar lots where a full-size hoe will not fit.

  • Septic tanks and fields

Pull the failed tank, open the field, set the new one, and leave the yard ready to seed. Same crew that designs the replacement.

  • Foundation and drainage digs

Exterior footing drains, wall exposure for waterproofing, helical staging, and crawlspace access. We already do the drain and the piers — we dig them too.

  • Demo and haul-off

Old slabs, failed patios, buried tanks, stumps. Loaded and gone. Not left in a pile for you to babysit.

  • Lake-lot and tight sites

Sand, clay, a high water table, and a neighbor ten feet away. We pick the machine for the dirt, not the brochure.

Walk the lot first.

Utilities, well setbacks, drain fields, and the neighbor’s tile. We look before we cut. Free inspection. Then a number and a date.
